Caitlyn Yates is a Program Officer at LaMP where she works on implementation, monitoring and evaluation of proof-of-concept projects in Latin America to support labor mobility opportunities for workers and employers alike. Currently, Caitlyn coordinates workstreams within several projects, including a project training Guatemalan culinary workers for seasonal international labor opportunities, a project facilitating responsible recruiting practices for temporary agricultural workers in Mexico and Guatemala, and a new labor mobility pathway for Central American cruise industry workers. Her role integrates project coordination and analysis to facilitate program management – encompassing stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, monitoring & evaluation, and communications and outreach.

Caitlyn is an anthropologist by training who has worked on research projects related to migration and security policy. Previously she worked in research focusing in particular on transit migration, humanitarian responses, and regularization processes in Latin America and the Caribbean. She has published extensively on U.S. border policy, Latin American immigration policies, migration through the Darien Gap, and the Haitian diaspora in Latin America. Before joining LaMP, Caitlyn worked as a research fellow at the Strauss Center for International Security and Law, a consultant at the Migration Policy Institute, and a research coordinator at IBI Consultants. She holds a Masters in Global Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from the University of British Columbia.
