Eugenia Pérez is a LaMP consultant supporting coordinator of the Association of Responsible Recruitment and Employment Agencies Abroad (GAREX acronym in Spanish) based in Guatemala. Eugenia’s work assists GAREX achieve its goals and three strategic pillars: recognition, integrity and growth. (GAREX) was established in 2023 and is intended to develop mutual accountability among members, help affiliated recruiters differentiate within the market, and address systemic inefficiencies to make Guatemala a more competitive source country. 

Previously, Eugenia worked at IOM for the Guatemalan Temporary Worker Program to Canada, working in the areas of recruitment, selection, assistance in immigration processes and pre-departure orientation. She was in charged to update the guide for temporary workers to include topics such as financial orientation and family integration. 

She also worked for nine years as an associate at Comuguate, a recruitment agency in Guatemala. She was coordinator and representative of the agency at forums, events and workshops on labor migration with government entities, international organizations and consular missions. 

Eugenia holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala, a diploma in updating development cooperation from the Universidad Rafael Landívar and a diploma in Central American Integration from INCEP – PROICA.
