Dawit M. Dame is a consultant supporting LaMP with expanding its Africa portfolio. Dawit leads labor mobility prospecting work at LaMP defining and prioritizing opportunities from sending countries in Africa to match with emerging opportunities globally.
Prior to LaMP Dawit spent over 12 years in Ethiopia leading various government transformation efforts across sectors, most recently in the labor and employment sector. Dawit served as the Senior Manager for Innovation at the former Jobs Creation Commission, and later as the Senior Advisor in the Ministry of Labor and Skills. Dawit chaired the National Technical Committee for Overseas Employment organized under the Prime Minister’s Office of Ethiopia where he designed labor mobility programs, focused on semi-skilled and skilled workers to Gulf Council Countries (GCC). As the technical lead for Ethiopia’s Overseas Program, Dawit led various missions to GCC and Europe while overseeing policy and programmatic reforms to accelerate a managed skilled worker migration from Ethiopia.
Dawit holds a master’s degree in Public Administration (Development Practice) from Columbia University and B.A. in Economics & Philosophy from Macalester College.
