Alia Fakhry is a Senior Associate at Labor Mobility Partnerships based in Berlin where she contributes to expanding the current portfolio in Germany and at European Union level. Prior to joining LaMP, Alia was an associate researcher at a leading German foreign policy think tank, the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), where she researched migration policy in Europe, the Mediterranean region and Africa, as well as on EU-Africa cooperation on migration. She has also consulted for various European and African think tanks, international organizations and UN agencies on issues related to migration policy and migration dynamics in Europe, North Africa, the Sahel, and the Western Mediterranean.
Before that, Alia worked at the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) on the implementation of EU-funded programs that supported the work of national and local authorities on migration governance in the European Union, North Africa and the Western Mediterranean.
Alia holds a master’s degree in Middle Eastern studies from Lund University (Sweden) with a focus on forced migration, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Sciences Po Bordeaux (France). She was a visiting student at Saint Joseph University of Beirut (Lebanon), Yarmouk University (Jordan) and Beer Sheva University (Israel).
